Claudia’s practice focuses on all aspects of family law and family formation including divorce, custody, child support, third-party and grandparent rights, same-sex family and unmarried cohabitant issues, guardianships, adoptions, assisted reproductive technologies (gestational carriers/surrogacy, IVF, AI, donation and embryo transfers), and contract disputes arising from personal relationships. She also handles select probate and estate planning matters. Claudia regularly serves as a Court appointed Best Interests Attorney in family, civil and criminal court, and as a Court Appointed Advisor in family law cases.

Claudia is fluent in French and obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science and French from the University of New Mexico in 1986. She obtained her law degree, cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1992 (Go Lobos!). She is a native of the Southwest (raised in California, New Mexico and Arizona) and an avid connoisseur of Mexican food and green chile (with an “e”!).

Claudia is a current Member of the State Bar of Arizona Family Law Executive Council and an Assisted Reproduction Fellow with the Academy of Adoption & Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, as well as a  previous member and chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee and previous member of the Committee on Professional Responsibility.  Since moving to Arizona in 1997, she has invested in improving the legal community thorough her extensive service on committees and task forces for the Arizona State Bar Association, volunteer activities with the Children’s Law Center and Volunteer Lawyers Program, and frequent presentations in local and national continuing legal education seminars.

Active in the LGBT community, Claudia is a member of the National Family Law Advisory Council for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, member of the National LGBT Bar Association and a charter member of the National LGBT Bar’s Family Law Institute. She has also served on the Board of One-n- Ten and has been instrumental in creating law to protect LGBT families in Arizona.

Claudia has been named one of the Top Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona 2012 and 2021, to the Echo Magazine Hall of Fame Class of 2015

Claudia lives in North Central Phoenix with her wife, Christelle, and three rescue dogs, Franklin, Augustin, and Anastasia.
